In this day and age of heightened security there is a growing need for industry professionals who have had proper technical training and who are dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for the people and properties that they protect. Careers in the security industry are fast becoming a viable option for those who may be interested in law enforcement but who have decided to work in the private rather than public sector.
Security jobs are ideal for school leavers, for those looking for casual or part-time work, and for those who prefer shift work rather than the more rigid nine-to-five schedule. It is also an industry which provides a wide variety of challenges and opportunities for it's employees - staff have been known to remark that no day is the same as the next. If this type of career sounds appealing then perhaps you should consider taking up a position within the security sector!
One of the easiest ways to get into the security industry is to undergo a period of training. There are a number of private companies which offer training in-house, but you may be contractually obliged to remain with the company after the end of your training. Some community colleges offer security orientated training also, with the advantage being that at the end of the course you are free to choose your employer. Both avenues are viable options for those interested in getting into the security sector - an apprenticeship or training period at a private company will eliminate a student debt, whilst a course taken at a college will give the freedom to select an employer or company after graduation. Both methods of training will focus on the basics of being a security guard or security professional.
