Homes are always vulnerable to invasion, burglary and vandalism, particularly because they are the buildings in which we store most of our most valuable belongings. As such, home security is a valid concern for any home-owner, property developer or neighbourhood. Far from being an unnecessary luxury or expense, home security is recommended regardless of the area you live in and is even something which can increase the value of your home. Most importantly, having a well-planned and implemented home security system should be all you need to deter and prevent would be criminals from attempting to gain entry to your property.
There are many different options for home-owners looking into home security, ranging from computerized monitoring systems to closed circuit camera and televisions to manned patrol vehicles. The choice you make will be decided by your budget, your specific needs, and the presence of security companies in your local area. If you are living in a high risk area, have experienced burglaries at your current residence previously, or feel that your security is worth a significant investment, then you may decide on an intensive program that incorporates motion sensors, closed circuit recording and a regular patrol. Other protective devices and structures that can be installed include walls and intercom-controlled gates, panic rooms, and one or more trained security dogs. If you are in a quieter area or in a region which does not frequently experience home invasion related crimes, then you may decide that a motion sensor and alarm system is sufficient.
